The journal upholds the principles of academic integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability in determining authorship.

1. Eligibility for Authorship

An individual may be listed as an author of a manuscript submitted to AL GHAZALI: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam only if they have made a substantial scholarly contribution and meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Intellectual Contribution: The individual has made a significant contribution to the conception or design of the study, the development of its theoretical framework, the collection of research data or relevant sources, or the analysis and interpretation of data, texts, documents, or scholarly literature.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: The individual has participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content, including its theoretical arguments, research methodology, analysis, interpretation, or scholarly conclusions.

  3. Final Approval: The individual has reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript submitted for publication.

  4. Accountability and Integrity: The individual agrees to take responsibility for their contribution and to ensure that any questions concerning the accuracy, validity, originality, or integrity of the manuscript are appropriately investigated and resolved.

All four criteria must be fulfilled for an individual to qualify for authorship.

2. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship

Activities that do not independently justify authorship include general supervision, administrative assistance, funding acquisition, routine data collection, technical assistance, language editing, proofreading, and other contributions that do not involve substantial intellectual participation in the scholarly work.

Individuals whose contributions do not meet all authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, with their consent, where appropriate.

3. Responsibilities of the Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for coordinating communication between the journal and all co-authors throughout the submission, peer-review, revision, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that:

  • All listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.

  • All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript and its final version before publication.

  • All co-authors agree to the order in which their names appear in the manuscript.

  • The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.

  • Any relevant conflicts of interest and sources of research funding are disclosed.

  • All authors are informed of substantial revisions and editorial decisions affecting the manuscript.

The corresponding author must provide accurate and complete information about the identity, institutional affiliation, and contributions of all authors.

4. Order of Authorship

The order of authorship must be determined collectively by the authors based on their respective scholarly contributions and mutual agreement. The journal does not automatically assign authorship order based on academic rank, institutional position, seniority, or supervisory status.

5. Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing to the editor, accompanied by a clear justification and written agreement from all authors affected by the change, including any individual being added or removed.

The journal will evaluate such requests in accordance with publication ethics principles. Changes will not be processed without sufficient justification and the consent of all relevant authors. Any authorship dispute that cannot be resolved by mutual agreement may be referred to the relevant institutional authorities for investigation.

6. Prohibition of Unethical Authorship Practices

The journal does not permit:

  • Gift or honorary authorship: Listing individuals who have not made qualifying scholarly contributions.

  • Ghost authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions and meet the authorship criteria.

  • Guest authorship: Including names primarily to increase the manuscript's credibility, visibility, or likelihood of acceptance without qualifying contributions.

  • Misrepresentation of contributions: Providing false or misleading information about the roles of authors.

Suspected authorship violations will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and may result in editorial action.

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Manuscript Preparation

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work. Authors who use AI tools in manuscript preparation, language editing, data analysis, or other relevant activities must comply with the journal's applicable AI policy and transparently disclose such use where required.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, proper attribution, ethical compliance, and integrity of all content submitted for publication.

8. Ethical Responsibility

By submitting a manuscript to AL GHAZALI: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam, all authors confirm that the authorship information is accurate, that all listed authors meet the stated criteria, and that they accept responsibility for the integrity of the work. The journal reserves the right to investigate suspected authorship misconduct and take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics policies.
