Generative AI Policy

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

AL GHAZALI: Jurnal Pendidikan dan Pemikiran Islam

AL GHAZALI recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support scholarly writing, translation, literature exploration, and data analysis. However, its use must uphold academic integrity, transparency, research ethics, and human accountability.

1. Permitted Use of Generative AI

Authors may use Generative AI for language editing, translation, manuscript organization, and other supporting tasks. AI must not replace original scholarly contributions, critical thinking, or independent research.

2. Authorship and Accountability

Generative AI cannot be listed as an author or co-author. Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, validity, and integrity of their manuscripts, including all AI-assisted content.

3. Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose the use of Generative AI when it materially contributes to manuscript content, research design, data analysis, interpretation, or the creation of figures and illustrations. The disclosure should identify the AI tool, its purpose, and how the output was verified. Basic spelling and grammar correction generally does not require disclosure.

4. Accuracy and Islamic Scholarly Sources

Authors must verify all AI-generated information, references, quotations, and research findings. Particular care is required when citing the Qur'an, Hadith, classical Islamic literature (turath), and the works of Islamic scholars. Fabricated references, inaccurate religious quotations, and unsupported interpretations are strictly prohibited.

5. Originality and Copyright

AI-assisted manuscripts must comply with plagiarism, copyright, licensing, and research ethics requirements. AI-generated content must not be assumed to be original or free from copyright restrictions.

6. Confidentiality and Peer Review

Authors, reviewers, and editors must protect unpublished manuscripts, research data, and confidential editorial correspondence. Such materials must not be uploaded to public or unauthorized AI platforms. AI must not replace independent peer review or human editorial decisions.

7. Prohibited Uses

Generative AI must not be used to fabricate data, invent references, manipulate research findings, conceal plagiarism, misrepresent Islamic sources, produce fraudulent peer reviews, or compromise research integrity.

8. Violations and Editorial Actions

AL GHAZALI reserves the right to request clarification, require revisions, suspend editorial processing, reject manuscripts, or take appropriate corrective action, including correction or retraction of published articles, when unethical AI use is established. Decisions will be based on the available evidence and the journal's publication ethics procedures.

9. Policy Updates

AL GHAZALI may periodically revise this policy to reflect developments in AI technology, research ethics, and scholarly publishing standards.

Authors, reviewers, and editors are responsible for ensuring that all AI use complies with this policy. Generative AI may assist scholarly work but cannot replace human judgment, academic integrity, or responsibility.
