Early Marriage from the Perspectives of Islamic Law and Psychology: An Analysis of Emotional Maturity from the Perspective of Islamic Education

This study aims to analyze early marriage from the perspectives of Islamic law and psychology, with particular emphasis on emotional maturity and its implications from the perspective of Islamic education. This study employs a library research method using the Qur'an, Hadith, Islamic legal literature, psychological studies, educational literature, and relevant previous research as sources of analysis. Data were collected through identification, selection, classification, and critical analysis of literature related to baligh, rusyd, marriage readiness, emotional maturity, psychological development, and Islamic family education. The results indicate that early marriage cannot be assessed solely on the basis of biological maturity or formal legal permissibility. Marriage readiness also requires emotional stability, sound judgment, psychological preparedness, physical health, economic capacity, religious knowledge, and social competence. The study further finds that emotional maturity represents an important dimension connecting the Islamic concept of rusyd with contemporary psychological perspectives on marriage readiness. The novelty of this study lies in integrating Islamic legal principles, psychological concepts of emotional maturity, and Islamic education into a comprehensive framework for assessing readiness for marriage. Islamic education is therefore positioned as a strategic instrument for developing responsible, emotionally mature, and family-oriented individuals before entering marriage
