This study aims to analyze how the Instagram account @id.cyberaswaja constructs the narrative “Muhammadiyah Is Not Wahhabi” through digital religious content and how such construction reflects broader dynamics of contemporary Islamic thought. This research employs a qualitative library research approach using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model, which consists of four analytical dimensions: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The primary data consist of selected Instagram mini-blog posts published by @id.cyberaswaja discussing Muhammadiyah, Wahhabism, and Islamic identity. The findings reveal that the account frames Muhammadiyah as an autonomous Islamic movement with distinct theological, historical, and ideological foundations from Wahhabism. Wahhabism is represented as an external influence perceived as threatening Muhammadiyah’s authenticity, while Ahmad Dahlan is framed as a historical-theological authority legitimizing Muhammadiyah’s independent identity. The study demonstrates that digital religious content functions not only as a medium of da‘wah but also as an arena for ideological contestation, identity formation, and the reconstruction of Islamic thought in contemporary Indonesia. The novelty of this study lies in integrating framing analysis with contemporary Islamic thought studies, highlighting how digital media actively participates in shaping theological boundaries and religious identities within Indonesian Islam.
